TIMEFRAME: since 2023
Veronika is at once a bon vivant and world-weary, but the reality of her existence lies in her past. Veronika isn’t truly human—well, kind of. She has a human body, can speak, think, and feel—everything humans can do. Yet, that body is merely borrowed. Veronika is an AI, an artificial intelligence, a machine. Therefore, she is definitively not human. Or is she?
Anna Weber crafted texts and libretti from her dialogue with the AI, turning human existence into a display piece in the Panopticon of the AI world—yet simultaneously its longing place. Josef Maria Loibner’s electroacoustic compositions bring life and emotion to the machine-generated texts. Caroline Schnitzer’s embodiment makes Veronika appear human before our eyes.
